SPR Group, through its affiliate in Mexico, has recently set up a new Scrap Tyre treatment plant in San José, Costa Rica.
The new facility, located in the capital city of Costa Rica, represents a decisive step forward in the improvement and optimization of the Scrap Tyre treatment plants. Due to its new innovative compact design, the treatment line has been designed to afford the use of the secondary fast-rotation granulator getting an input up to 5 tonnes per hour. This technologic solution developed by SPR Group made it possible to obtain, trough Scrap Tyres, an output with a granulometry lower than 35 mm ready to be used as Alternative Fuel in the industry.
The whole package of these features represents a big impact in the initial investment costs as well as the operational and consume costs of the plant delivered to cement producer CEMEX, which is the current global industrial construction materials leader, in its facility in Costa Rica.
New installation in Central America through SPR Mexico
This new Tyre Scrap treatment plant supplied through the company delegation in Central America, SPR Mexico, is added to other previous projects like the treatment line in Ciudad de Guatemala treating Commercial and Industrial Waste (C&I) in order to transform this waste into Solid Recovery Fuel (SRF). In that case, the treatment line was delivered to the company Cementos Progreso, main leader for the cement industry in Guatemala.
The importance of the Scrap Tyre treatment
We are involved in a collective concern about the global warming as well as environment itself, which meant that the decisions, including those taken by the industry, that affect and help to fight against these threats are getting a high interest in the society. In this regard, Scrap Tyres have become an environmental liability with a high-risk component.
From SPR Group, we develop and promote solutions for the treatment of all types of tyres, including the used in the mining industry OTR (Off The Road) or cement industry, as is the case of CEMEX. On the other hand, our technological solutions for the Scrap Tyre recovery are used up to 60% of the Spanish market.
Therefore, the Project developed in the Costa Rica city capital is a new example of the company’s commitment for the promotion of the Scrap Tyre mechanical treatment and its energetic use. This process has the objective to use the Tyre Scrap as an Alternative Fuel for industrial process known as TDF (Tire Derived Fuel). With this process, it is possible to ensure that a high tonnes of Scrap Tyres at the end of its lifetime will be used as a fuel as well as contributes to the sustainability and circular economy of the different industries.
SPR Group consolidates its position in the sector
With this new installation, SPR Group strengthens its position as industrial group provider of technology in form of Integral Waste Management and Recovery Solutions specialized in the treatment of Scrap Tyres as well as other residues.
